My first visit, when I discovered such a beautiful and welcoming space just a short drive from home.
The enclosed pasture alongside the Ecosystem Farm driveway.
Daniel Trott began his work with the Accokeek Foundation as a volunteer field worker at the Ecosystem Farm in March 2015. At the time, he was a full-time graduate student and in the process of creating natural habitats along with produce and flower gardens on his own property in Maryland. His interest in sustainable agricultural practices increased as he assumed a seasonal farm assistant position at Accokeek Foundation in June, 2015 and continued when he accepted the position of farm manager in October, 2015. In 2017, Dan transitioned to Grounds & Facilities Coordinator where he helps manage and care for the entire 200 acres of Piscataway Park stewarded by the Accokeek Foundation. Prior to this period, Daniel worked with the U.S. Navy for 23 years, conducting operations around the globe. His specific experience included flight operations in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans and maritime partnership capacity building programs in northern and sub-Saharan Africa. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Rochester , a Master of Arts in International Strategic Studies from the University of Milan, and Master of Arts degrees in International Relations and Management & Leadership from Webster University.
