Be a Part of the Legacy: Planned Giving
In 1957, the Accokeek Foundation was established to preserve the view from George Washington’s Mount Vernon and to protect the Maryland shoreline from over development. During the past 50 years, this vision has grown to encompass wide-ranging education programs in agriculture, conservation, and history. You can leave a lasting legacy by making a bequest or other testamentary gift to the Accokeek Foundation:
- Make a specific gift of cash, securities, real estate, or other property through your will, codicil, or trust instrument.
- Designate the Accokeek Foundation as the beneficiary of all or part of the remainder of your estate or trust after the payment of estate-related expenses, other bequests, or following the death of a spouse or other primary beneficiaries.
- Name the Accokeek Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy.
Corporate and business support for special events and programs offered by the Accokeek Foundation bring new visitors to Piscataway Park to enjoy the National Colonial Farm, Ecosystem Farm, park nature trails, and the Potomac River. See more details on sponsorship benefits and what’s coming up the Event Calendar.
Corporate Team Building
We welcome corporate, local business, and civic organizations to spend a day together enjoying the splendor of the open spaces and natural areas at Piscataway Park. Make a lasting impact through projects such as shoreline and trail maintenance, garden and construction projects at the Ecosystem Farm, and special projects to support the National Colonial Farm. With a donation to the Accokeek Foundation, team building projects include use of conference space, boxed lunches, and recreational activity options. The Accokeek Foundation also participates as a host organization for the annual Charles County United Way Day of Caring event and the Potomac River Watershed Clean-Up.
Volunteer with the Accokeek Foundation to be a part of preserving the cultural history, natural resources, and agriculture of Southern Maryland. With the support of more than 200 volunteers each year, the Foundation offers engaging and educational programs to the community. Volunteers support our staff to help steward and maintain Piscataway Park, provide event and program support, and engage the community. You can volunteer for an event, share your special expertise with a project, sign up for regular hours to meet service requirements, or join one of our weekly “Happy Hour” group events to support ongoing projects; the Accokeek Foundation offers opportunities to fit all interests and skill levels.
