Notice: Wet Fields and a Week Off for CSA SHAREs

Greetings CSA Members,

The rains are continuing to fall, bringing with them much of the moisture we could have used in July. So is the way of global climate change, or perhaps this is more the norm for the East Coast. These rainy days are bringing back memories of the 2007 flood that Colette and I experienced back in Minnesota, which I shall share with you in next week’s edition of Field Notes. But my reason for writing is to inform you of our decision to cancel the CSA SHAREs for Friday, September 9, and Tuesday, September 13.

The fields are tremendously wet, and working in them may do more harm than good. I have to admit that I am nervous about what awaits us at the farm tomorrow, after all that I witnessed today. But when you work in this field, the weather is always a gamble, so we take what we can get. And I certainly haven’t been out here long enough to get a feel for what is normal. So as the rains continue to fall, I am humbled, and reminded once again to have gratitude for the bounty that we have shared with you so far this season and hope that there will be more to come.

Take care,

Courtney
