Each year, nearly 3,000 students from D.C. area schools visit the National Colonial Farm for an unique outdoor-classroom experience. Specialty tours are also available for adult groups, homeschoolers, and other youth organizations.

Colonial History

The National Colonial Farm, an outdoor living history museum, depicts life for an ordinary family in Prince George's County in the 1770s. The site is open to the public Tuesday - Sunday, from 10 am to 4 pm, and admission is free.

Animals are part of the Accokeek Foundation's stewardship of Piscataway Park. Many visitors appreciate the beauty of the farm animals without realizing their important role in farming systems.

The Saylor Grove public fishing pier and riverside trails provide visitors with scenic views along the shore of the Potomac River and a beautiful view of Mount Vernon.
